This website serves as an archive of information about the BYK Project.
From 2011-2014 the BYK Project was a grassroots effort to transform the Beretania, Young, and King Street corridor in Honolulu. The goal of the project was to make it safer, easier, and more enjoyable to walk, bicycle, and take transit along these streets.
The primary result of this effort was a protected bicycle lane on King Street. This lane has succeeded in making cycling along the corridor safer and less stressful. It was instrumental in supporting the launch and success of Biki bikeshare. This has resulted in more than doubling the number of cyclists riding along the corridor in just a few years.
